I have been working in the industry since 1993. I started as a media buyer and now I do a little of everything-marketing, copywriting, campaigns, promotions, sponsorships, publicity, media relations and yes some media buying. I run my own company and I am the Marketing and PR director of the Video Association of Dallas which presents the 24 Hour Video Race and the Dallas Video Festival. The festival is the oldest and largest festival of its type in the US. I work on a variety of clients including indie films, restuarants, bars, dvd launches, a really cool candle company (ergo) and a lot of non-profit events. My fave job was PR and Advertising manager for The Sixth Floor Museum (where JFK was shot). I met so many amazing people and learned so much. I hate working for agencies with uncreative people, people who are afraid that someone is going to take their job, people who micromanage and employers who do not treat their employees well.
